On behalf of the Oconomowoc Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to thank you for your generous donation of a 9-11 Tribute Helmet. Dear Mr. Fleisher,
My name is Jim Mollet, I’m a Battalion Chief with the Greenfield Fire Department. I’m writing to you to commend Peter Walker. Our department needed some further training on the Rescue 42 System we have. I was asked to arrange the training session(s) by our Training Officer. I contacted Peter and arranged for three days of training. The morning consisted of classroom instruction followed by hands-on training in the afternoon.
The training provided by Peter certainly exceeded my and our expectations. We were impressed by his knowledge of the product and his ability to explain and show the uses that I felt compelled to go on record with my praise. He definitely deserves it. In a time when customer service excellence has taken a back seat due to schedules or budgetary reasons, the work Peter did with our Fire Department should be held up as an example for others to try to emulate. Please allow me to explain further; while setting up the training was not a problem, actually getting it in was the real challenge. We had issues with the towing company providing the vehicles; training sessions were interrupted due to emergency responses (expected), daily schedules needed to be adjusted and readjusted to accomplish training, etc. Peter was very accommodating and virtually rolled with the flow to attempt to make the training as seamless as possible.
What impressed me most about the training was Peter’s ability to convey technical information in a format that kept the crews interest and engaged the entire time. As you’re aware sometimes Fire and EMS personnel can be a challenge and oftentimes critical. Throughout the training there was good discussion and questions in which Peter handled effortlessly. I’ve since received many compliments about the training and inquiries about when and if we will do some more.
In closing, I believe that Peter deserves to be congratulated and rewarded for providing the Greenfield Fire Department with such invaluable training and customer service.
Sincerely,
James Mollet

5 Alarm Instructors present an Advanced Extrication class for the Adams Fire District. Roy Spielman is a Firefighter Paramedic with the North Shore Fire Department. Formerly he was a member of the ChampCar safety team. Andy Wilke is a Firefighter with the Milwaukee Fire Department assigned to Ladder 11 and a member of Heavy Urban Rescue Team (HURT).I just got off the phone with the Adams Fire Chief Mike Rusch and wanted to share his comments with you. He stated that Roy and Andy did an excellent job. He could not be happier with the class. He also stated that he would be happy to recommend this class. In addition the vast majority of the course evaluations were at the highest rankings.
Thanks Roy and Andy for a job well done.

Hi Peter (&Jim),
I had one of the guys come up to me after today’s training with a few comments:
Comment # 1: After your classroom portion you should have a “comments” sheet…
Comment # 2: Overall, you guys did a great job of bundling all that information into a package that was interesting and enjoyable to listen to. A bit more specifically, it was appreciated when you would briefly describe/explain the “legal speak” or “scientific” aspects, and follow it up with a real world, simple example/experience.
Thank you Pete (& Jim),

Gerry, Thanks for the invitation to attend your customer appreciation event. All of my troops had a tough morning doing hose testing and were thrilled to head over and play at your place. We had a great time. Pete will be happy to know that a large group of our guys were very impressed with the new battery operated Hurst Tools (they were told to put it on their Christmas list). In addition the Streamlight LED conversion and acquisition of the large spot Streamlights looks very promising.
For me, it was a great time to see some old friends and swap stories with the retired or soon-to-be-retired guys. Geez, I must be really old.
Finally, thanks for allowing placement of the sign favoring the Town of Delafield fire station referendum. The issue means a lot to us and your support with the sign placement is huge.
Thanks very much for all the courtesies.

Dear 5 Alarm:
I would like to thank you for providing extrication equipment for use during our Fall Fire School. This event is held every year and is an excellent opportunity for firefighters from around the area to practice the skills necessary to perform their jobs safely and effectively. This could not be done without the tremendous support from local businesses and citizens that we receive.
Thanks again, Brock A. Schmitt

The FDNY touts the Blaze Fighter on their website.
As you probably know, we recently received the exciting news that the Blaze Fighter was selected by the New York City Fire Department as their new fire glove. The FDNY is so pleased with Blaze Fighter, that they placed a story about the gloves on their website. Here’s an excerpt from their story: They were in development for more than a year. They’re manufactured by a company that once made gear for industrial workers, racecar drivers and the U.S. military. What are they? New, state-of-the-art gloves for FDNY firefighters.
Our selection by the FDNY and this story provides a tremendous marketing and publicity tool that we can use with our potential customers. The link to the story is: www.nyc.gov
NEW HURST JAWS OF LIFE eDRAULIC RESCUE TOOL USED IN RECENT
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
– “The spreader performed door removal, fender crush, dash lift and sidewall spread techniques to ultimately free the trapped patient.”
On September 2, 2010, Lake Country Fire and Rescue (serving Chenequa, Nashotah, and Delafield, WI) was dispatched to the scene of a one-vehicle MVA with reported entrapment. Responding units were advised of two patients, one of which was pinned and unconscious. Due to the nature and proximity of the call, Lt. Peter Walker responded directly to the scene. On arrival, Lt. Walker assumed command and reported one vehicle broadside vs. tree with severe damage and extensive extrication needed. A medical helicopter was requested but unavailable.
Additional arriving units (one Chief, one shift commander, two engines, and three ambulances) commenced extrication of the pinned victim. Because of severe B-post intrusion (>20”), multiple hydraulic tools and reciprocating saws were deployed to expedite the operation.
Lt. Walker, who is also a sales rep for 5 Alarm Fire and Safety, a Hurst distributor, had recently placed the SP300E eDraulic spreader in his vehicle for demonstrations at local departments. The spreader, with only 50% battery life remaining, was deployed during this rescue to augment the truck hydraulics.
The spreader performed door removal, fender crush, dash lift, and sidewall spread techniques to ultimately free the trapped patient. These were performed simultaneously with roof removal operations and cross-ramming maneuvers. With no additional hydraulic lines needed, the spreader was seamlessly incorporated into the existing system. It was a good complement to the selector-valve power unit, which would haveotherwise limited operation to one tool at a time. The spreader became a valuable asset that reduced the overall patient removal time. The patient was extricated in 37 minutes, and the spreader was still operational when the patient was removed.

Dear Gerry:
It was a real pleasure to meet you last week at FDIC. Thanks for your offer of boots and helmets for Rotary’s Mexico Initiative Project. It seems that those two items are the most difficult to come by. Again, thank you.
I also want to repeat to you the tremendous help Mike Kadinger has been to this most excellent humanitarian project. Since Rotary started sending fire trucks and equipment to Mexico (about four years ago), Mike has located trucks about to retire, as well as absolutely tons of equipment, I have sung the praises of Mike and 5 Alarm all across Indiana.
I have been a salesman all of my adult life and I know the value of clients seeing me doing good in areas other than trying to sell them something. I know Mike takes great pride in the very important party he has played in this success. Again, thank you.
Sincerely,

I have been dealing with Joli, and she has been a complete pleasure to work with. She is friendly and wants to make sure that the little things are taken care of. I know my order is only for one helmet, but she made me feel as if I was a major customer.
If there were only more people out there with this type of servitude. More people like her increase sales, and repeat sales for a company. She is worth more than her salary. You can’t equate the customer feeling into dollars.
Thank you,
Thom
